Simmersion is the proprietary developer of the Simurban®™ software suite; a revolutionary simulation solution that allows users to simulate real or imagined world environments with incredible realism, context and geometric accuracy.
The Simurban software enables users to quickly create highly detailed real-time simulated models of any environment in the world by manipulating commercial inputs like aerial photography, survey data and CAD models using desktop tools. The results are highly accurate and incredibly realistic 3D simulation models of unlimited scope and scale with widespread application across a number of market segments including urban planning, military simulation and entertainment.
Simmersion has established simulation models of areas over hundreds of kilometres with millions of trees, thousands of buildings and other features. Once established, users can interact and analyse the simulated environment in unprecedented ways with incredible realism.
Company History
Simmersion commenced operations in 2002 as a software vendor with the launch of the Simmersion software suite. In 2004, Simmersion applied to register the name “Simurban” as the product name for the suite of software.
In response to a growing market demand and Simmersion’s expertise in using the Simurban software suite, Simmersion expanded its business portfolio to provide 3D modelling and other simulation services. Today, Simmersion provides a comprehensive portfolio of simulation and related modelling services based on the Simurban software suite.
The Simurban software suite has a wide range of applications across diverse industries with terrific first successes being in the Urban Planning sector. Simmersion has enjoyed commercial success in penetrating and leading this sector in the provision of 3D simulation products and services.
In December 2005, Simmersion introduced its “Simulated City” business concept, to establish real-time 3D simulation models of major cities and conurbations across the world. Simmersion is dedicated to continuous R&D to further develop and extend its simulation technology to ensure that Simurban simulations are the best and most realistic immersive experience possible for the user.
In 2006 Simmersion was contracted by Microsoft Virtual Earth to create a specific quality assurance visualisation application for in-house use by the Virtual Earth Team at Vexcel (CO, USA).
In June 2006, Simmersion completed a capital raising of $1 million dollars to help fund national and international expansion. In August 2006, Simmersion was a winner of Red Herring Magazine’s top 100 technology start-ups in Asia for 2006.
Since then Simmersion has conducted an intensive R&D program for their new virtual worlds platform and product, "Mycosm". This program is nearing completion and will be introduced to the market later in 2008.
